Another First

Holey moley! The Birdie Gods have really been smilin' down upon me lately, for today Skye, Storm & Zoey finally ate somethin' that's actually GOOD for 'em (not that I EVER feed 'em anything that's actually BAD for 'em, but you'll see what I mean in a moment).

Upon my awakenin' first thing this mornin' (i.e., before I myself even thought of takin' a sip of that delectable drink known as hot black coffee) I decided to concoct a "special sumthin' for my trio. So I went and grabbed one apple and one carrot and I cut them into fours. I then put them into my handy-dandy trusty ol' (VERY old!) Mini ChopChop (a midget-sized food processor for midget-sized folk like ME), added a very small handful of seed, and then I let it rip. Approximately 4.7 seconds later I had THE most aromatic blend of birdie goodness that I hoped would eventually entice my trio to chow down on.

I filled Skye, Storm & Zoey's dishes with it and hoped for the best....and the BEST is what I GOT!

Zoey was the first to make a beeline to her dish and she ate like she'd never been fed before (even tho I've tried givin' her this very same concoction in the past AND even tho she had food at her disposal all night long) and it seemed like she was never comin' up for air. Skye & Storm were a bit more hesitant at first but after a few moments of hemmin' and hawin' they too began to eat...altho definitely NOT as exuberantly as Zoey did. I was thrilled to say the least.

I have been tryin' to give 'em different kinda veggies and fruits since they first got here back in July but I was always unsuccessful, until TODAY! So it definitely WAS a great day today in MDJ Land.

Hmmm, I wonder what tomorrow will bring?

I understand and share your elation! Last night I sat studying the forum posts trying to find a post from someone that was also concerned about their bird not drinking water. I wasn't sure that she even knew the water bowl was there or what it was for.... At last I was more at ease knowing that a) I'm not the only one with the concern and b) that I don't really need to be worried. Jessie :senegal: is only 8 weeks old and has a lot to learn so imagine my excitement when, after she had breakfast this morning, she took her first bath that I know about. The sound of her thumping around, sniffing and snorting, because I think she might have gotten some water in her nose, attracted my attention. It's pure delight to be part of my clumsy little baby's learning curve.
