I've had parakeets for a while, but I'm getting a Cockatiel.

Okay so I know what budgies like, and Cockatiels usually like most of the same things, i was just wondering if there was anything else that they rather preferred? Any other toys, types of food? Someone said sunflower seeds, just regular salted?

Anything would help :)

Thanks,

I also have 2 budgies and a cockatiel (altho the cockatiel is in her own cage next to the other 2) so the one thing ya outta have plenty of on hand is..........MILLET! :-)

Personally, I feel as tho cockatiels MAY want/need a bit more mental stimulation and/or desire much more attention than most budgies do, but that could vary greatly and depend on each individual bird. But I can only go by what I see and experience....and that's the way it definitely is in my home.

And, as Liz stated earlier, no salt.

Wish ya lotsa luck with the new addition to the family.

Thanks :D Yea I've seen many videos and cockatiels tend to be more cuddly and more i guess 'spoiled' they seem to want attention which I dont mind :D

Cockatiels are great birds, they are also very entertaining  My cockatiel especially loves (everything below is not allowed to have salt in):

- kale
- broccoli
- rice
- spaghetti
Etc
