i see you tried a few different things.parrots are alot like children you have to stick to one thing he might scream because he doesn't know what reaction he's going to get. if you want the screaming to stop the worst thing is to answer which was the problem i just went through with my cockatoo and my 6 year old son,all day when he's in school she's fine i go around the house with no problem,as soon as he comes home she screams because he answers her today was the first day he hasn't told her shut up and she's screamed 3times got no answer and has been quiet since.

Hi,
So im new to this page and i dont know where to ask my question. So we had our first eclectus bird exactly 1 year ago ( then she was 3 months old) named Rosie. 3 months ago we bought a boy who is now 6 months old. We taught the girl how to behave and never had a problem she wanted to be on us or on the cage. Im a stay at home mums so the birds are always out, only put them away in their separate big cages at night. However the boy doesnt behave good. I can't leave food or especially fruit on the bench or table as he eats it and makes a huge mess. They have plenty to eat always a lot of vegies and fruit in their cages. He goes on our leather chairs and picks the leather. My kids are young if they leave pencil or other small toys out he take them to his cage and destroys them. He knows bad boy good boy still doesnt care. not sure how to train him. Any advice would be great.

While what you are describing with your male is something that I would consider normal parrot behavior, I would consider it even more so with the male Eclectus as he must feed the female in his natural environment for up to 11 months out of the year while she is laying eggs and raising young. For the majority of us the behavior that you are attributing to your male is normal for both genders of our parrots. Since this is such an ingrained behavior set it is not something that we normally try to tran out of out birds rather than to risk the psychological damage resulting from trying to change such a deeply rooted drive, we tend to work with it by putting valuables and dangerous items away and out of reach of our birds.

Your electus is screaming to get your attention because he wants you and he singles u out because he knows that that's your voice make sure that ure electus always has some thing to do. A tip that I found very helpful is, you scrunch up some treats in paper and put it is a spare food dish or hang it up on the cage.

Well, the thing is that ekkies cannot get high protein at all and, usually, that's what treats are. They are also not big on toys... ekkies are very different both in diet and behaviors to other parrot species.
