We don't know what causes night fright. None have actually told us. It could be a noise, a memory or even a foot falling asleep which scares them. I do know that mine do well with a night light as I do. When I open my eyes at night I want to be able to see. I rarely cover cages but when I do I leave an opening at the end of a perch so they can look out if they want to.

Yea I don't really cover him at night, I think he was just half asleep and saw our dog and it scared him.
