Any advise for beginner please? :)

I had a little setback with taming after a dear friend came to visit telling me they knew all about birds then promptly stuck their hand in the cage and chased my poor bird around for a good 5 mins! Poor Ferdi was crashing and bashing around terrified! It took a few days for Ferdi to trust me enough to take food from me again but is now eating just a few cms away from my hand! Yay.
I havnt let him out yet.
Any other tips or pointers for me??
