Is there anything i can do about the white powder and the dust my grey makes. Is there any kind of extractor fan that can be used to remove the powder out of the air, my partner is finding it hard to breath after a couple of hours of been in the same room

Daily baths with either shower or a dish or a spray bottle.
Also, invest in an Austin Air filter :) you'll need it!

Look online, it's an air filter that filters dust. Hepa filters work too.

I have a small HEPA filter in my birds' room and it definitely helps with the dust. Before moving to this house, the birds all slept in the same room with me. While I actually like having them there, it created difficulties with human uses of the bedroom. Ahem. I also found that I'd wake up every morning with a slight wheeze from the dust I had inhaled overnight.

I run the filter all day during the daylight hours. I no longer have the slight wheeze and there is much less (but still some) dust in the rest of the house. It is definitely manageable.

Your partner may want to check with their doctor, however. Some people can become allergic to bird dander/powder, and may develop something called "Bird Keeper's Lung" http://www.occupationalasthma.com/occupational_asthma_pageview.aspx?id=78. It may be a good thing to check into.

I find that with cleaning the cage every day (obviously) and also encouraging frequent bathing, that my grey's dust is manageable. I think the baths really help. I also daily have him in the bathroom with me when I take a really hot shower, the steam does wonders for his feathers and make his feet and beak all shiny too.
