Adding parrot - advice?

Postby rebeccaturpeinen » Thu Feb 16, 2012 11:20 am

I finally got my Rosella DNA tested and its confirmed... its a boy!! We will be adding a bird so he can have a friend, our vet recommends a female.

His cage is definitly big enough for two Rosellas and I am aware of quarantine. We have another cage for that.

Any advice before I start looking for a female? We are going to stick to Rosellas at the moment.

The vet recommends a girl around the age of one.

Is it correct that you can contain breeding by not putting any nests in?

No nesting material worked for my cockatiels. My daughters tiels made a nest out of newspaper at the bottom of the cage. We had to give them a nest box. I don't have the nerve to shake an egg.
