glassonion is right, before my too gained flight she was bald from neck to tail feathers. you probably should have put more thought into this before you got your bird, i'm assuming your son's condition didn't begin after getting a pet that is built for flight. my cousin's son is autistic but he doesn't cripple his pets to make life easier for him and his wife. my son and all his friends are in and out of my house daily and both my birds are flighted and out 12 hrs a day i just have to stay on top of the responsibilities i took on when deciding to have a child and pets.

I'm pro-flight for all birds, but cockatoos are one of the few species that REALLY REALLY need flight for their mental well-being. The chances of your Goffin's being a plucker is exponentially higher if he's clipped. If you do decide to clip him anyway, you have to realize that it's very likely he'll start plucking sooner or later.
