Thank you everyone for your suggestions! :) WHEN I do get my bird (which probably won't be for at the very least, another 5-6 months or so... Probably more like a year!) I believe I have decided on a cage! Yay!

It may be 6 months or a year to when you get your parrot but your going to be able to do so much research and have time to build up a supply of toys to rotate and other bits and bobs the time will fly by if you do a bit each week or something. By the time you get your baby you will be bursting with excitement :)

Thanks, guys! Marie, I know! I'm already excited lol. But I think half the fun is reading and doing research, and most of all... Shopping! I loooove shopping and my favorite "people" to shop for are my pets! My tax check is paying off my (small amount of) credit cards, and then the rest of it I hope to be able to spend on toys and perches to start my stock pile.

Before I got my Chihuahua, I literally filled a whole walk in closet with dog supplies just by buying three or four things a week! I can't even begin to imagine how much stuff I'm going to accumulate in the next 6 months or so...... Oh, boy!

Don't jump that far ahead and count your Meyers before they hatch. It's great to think it through and to have the essential supplies (cage, food, first set of toys, tree) when your bird arrives but there is so much you'll discover about it since. So it doesn't make sense to overstock on things. Also don't buy a cage and supplies until you have a deposit on a specific bird and are really going through with it. Someone recently posted about having a cage and supplies for a parrot but folks talked the person out of getting one right now based on the situation. It's best to absolutely decide on a bird before getting too committed with stuff.

Actually Michaels got a very good point. I just assume everyones like me and decides somethings definitely going to happen then don't back down lol. When I got my dog I got pretty much everything I needed the year beforehand. I planned on a much bigger dog than what I actually ended up getting and had collars and stuff that were way too big lol. Good excuse for some more shopping though.

If you are going to get toys and stuff in advance though don't go too mad and get loads of similar ones incase your bird doesn't like them. i have several toys my current birds wont touch but I know they will get used eventually either by my own future birds or by giving the ones that can be disinfected to other bird owners.

Yes, I will wait at least until I'm 100% positive that I will be getting a bird within the next couple of years, but for now I'm around 70% sure that I will be. This forum is SO helpful, I'm very thankful for it and all of you people on here! I'm sure you'll be seeing me around here often :)
