Parrot Shows & Expos?

Postby Pomlover2586 » Sun Apr 08, 2012 9:50 pm

I live in the Bay Area in Ca and I have found two separate bird expos within traveling distance- the San Jose Bird Mart which will be at the end of this month, and the Northern California Exotic Bird and Supply Expo in August.

Have any of you every gone to something like this and what were your opinions and experiences? I am not looking to purchase any birds.....simply looking for toys and accessories.

Do you find that the birds that do come to these shows are healthy, or will it end up being a heart wrenching display of birds needing to be rescued? I don't really want to spend money to see animals who are not well kept and from what I understand live birds are available for sale at both of these shows.

Also do you find the prices to really be cheaper at these types of shows? Thoughts on the whole bird expo idea?

Hi, there. I don't know *much* about birds yet, but I am learning! I went to a "bird fair" last year, so I can give a little insight I think. The one I went to was small, but did have live birds for sale. None of the ones I saw were sick. They all actually seemed quite healthy, even though they were in small cages for the time being. I think I saw one bird that seemed to have been plucking its feathers out, though. :/ I only went there to get a feel for what one was like. However; I live in Indiana, and I am assuming that bird shows in Indiana and bird shows in California are MUCH, much different.

Good luck!
