Michael, The Truman show. Love it!

Looks like except for the crash landing, Truman had a perfect homecoming.

I can tell you the difference between his homecoming and Zuzu's is that Zuzu has met everyone in our household already. We have visited Zuzu one to two times weekly since he was 7 weeks old. He's 14 weeks old now. Zuzu will be going from a bird store packed with other birds and all the noise an hustle and bustle there to our small house. There are 4 of us Living there including my two daughters who are 6 and 8 years old and we have 2 conures, 2 dogs, and 2 rabbits. We also have 2 Ball Pythons but Zuzu will not be making the aquintance of those two. He might see them at some point but that might be long time down the road.

So he's going to a place he doesn't know and into a MUCH larger cage than he's used to with animals he's never seen before all around him.

I love the idea of teaching him how to get water out of that bottle. I have the same one as you.

Btw, where in NY do you live? That looked like my street on the video. I used to live in Corona, Queens. Moved to Florida in 1986. (Can't beleive it's been that long!)

Anyways, Zuzu will meet the dogs right off the bat. Unless I confine them to my bedroom for the first couple hours. He will also be subjected to the screetching of my conures from the moment we enter the house. But he's used to being around other birds. I usually have the conures on me around the house. They fly to me. But I'm going to be spending most of the time with Zuzu because I want him to continue to be OK with everyone in the house and not just me. My first CAG could not stand anyone but me and bit everyone who tried to get close. So keeping Zuzu friendly with everyone in the house is my first priority. I also want to harness train him and let his wings grow out. (He's already been clipped, unfortunately).

So needless to say this poor bird is going to be in sensory overload. And I'm just don't want to scare him or do something stupid that might teach him to be afraid of something. Today he is very wary of things. Gets a little concerned when I take him out of his cage at the bird store and walk him around the store. So I usually take a few steps and stop. Wait. The take a few steps and repeat.

Thanks!

Is ZuZu the bird you called Fuzzybutt before? That was such an awesome name!

Yes, that's him. :) We still call him that but I'm trying to transition the family towards calling him by his permanent name by calling him ZuZu-Butt. LOL!

Here's a picture of ZuZu last time I visited him which was yesterday.

Really?! Hrm... I dunno bout fuzzybutt being permanent. I get odd looks as it is. lol! I'm OK with fuzzybutt being a nick name (which it probably will be since that's how he started out) but we'll use zuzubutt for a while and hopefully zuzu / fuzzybutt when it's all said and done.
