Haha, what is it with birds and poop/food/water? Both my conures have done the same, poop in their water/food and make soup with their food in their water. So I moved the water dispenser further up the cage, it stopped the poop completely and stopped the soup or so I thought but after a few days they figured out they can still carry bits of food up there to make soup.

A few things you can try.
Use dispensers rather than bowls as the smaller surface area reduces the chance of getting poop in.
Use a water bottle rather than a bowl. Personally I dont like the idea of them.
Move all dishes upwards, though that isn't possible in most cages so buy seperate ones.
Only leave food in at set meal times and remove it again after and change water 2/3 times a day.

I use glass water bottles for both my greys, they do very well with it & it helps keep their drinking water clean. I will put a bowl of water in for them to play in. But I do remove that when their done bathing.

How do you get them to start drinking from bottles? I tried with little success...

My grey also make soup, but he only drink from the bowl if it is crystal clear and without any visible residue. I tried a water bottle, he quickly figured out that he can make a big pond at the bottom of the cage if he keep at it, so that didn't work. It is driving me nuts!

My Budgies keep getting feathers in their water bowl, so I bought a water silo for them. They are investigating it as I type, I hope they'll take to it.
