Finally we have had the first day warm enough to take birds outside since I've had a carrier that is secure enough. Unfortunately Harlie is still slow progress so she didn't get to come but Ollie went into his travel cage with no fuss and the next thing he knew he was outside. His only prior experience of being outside is being taken to the car which is a bit sad really as when I was living in a house all my birds which were not too fearful of new experiences were wheeled outside in their cages when it was warm enough and I was able to supervise them.
He looked a bit shocked when he didnt end up in the car but after the first minute or so he took it all in his stride, started chirping away to himself and looking round before settling down to eat some of the small portion of seed I had put in the cage. We only got about 30 mins outside together as I had to get up to the hospital but I think it was worth it.
Hopefully the warm spell lasts a while so we can do it again, it will be good to see how he reacts to being outdoors when he relaxes to the experience a bit more. Ollies quite a fearless little bird usually and he showed no signs of being uncomfortable with the situation, hopefully one day he will be in a harness instead as I've discovered the travel cage is a complete pain in the bum to get through doors and up and down stairs for a little person like me lol. I had less trouble moving massive cages outside (almost)!!
