Thats great =)!

Dont rush things now, coco is just beginning to trust you. Dont take her out, but start target training! Follow Michael's training advice and video. When you can successfully target Coco around the cage, youve created a foundation to work on, with targeting its much easier to teach "step up". Also with targeting you can get your parrot in and out of the cage without grabbing it.

DONT grab or towel Coco unless there is an emergency, that will ruin your trust now.

I will start target training but I am a bit confused about stepping up thing. She can already do that. When we got her I tried to let go out of her cage and see what happends. When I was then trying to get her back in, she stepped up for me 100's of times but then immediately flew away because she did not know me. So I am playing with an idea to wait a week or maybe two and try to let her to step up on my finger and see wether she will fly away from my finger in her cage or not. And if she does then start target training in cage. Or do you think I should stop playing with ideas and start target training in cage straight away?

Thanks x

Try "come're" and tap your shoulder. Myrtle flew to my shoulder long before I could touch her.

I think you should start training yes, as Coco takes treats from you now!
Training isnt just because they do funny or cool stuff, it builts trust between the two of you, and set boundries for what's okay and what's not.

When you can do target and step up, I would focus on basic taming exercises and wait with trick training until the parrot is tame and trusts you =)!

Thank you very much! I will start target training today. When I take her out I want her to be comfortable around us.

I have to tell you though. When I aproach Coco's cage with a treat she still thinks about it for few seconds before she takes it of me. But when my 5 year old aproaches the cage Coco is moving immediately towards Mia. Funny isn't it?

Everybody was telling me that it will Coco take longer to be comfortable around a child than me. The opposite is true.

And another thing! She will take a treat from any child!!! Mia had friends over and they wanted to feed Coco so I decided that under my supervision we can try. It was an unbelievable experience. She took a treat from anybody although she had food in her cage. She was not hungry! She just wanted her favourites.

Thank you for all the support!!!

I'm 've committed to purchase a baby senegal. I'm told they are sweet - relatively quiet - I'm Living in a situation where Parrot noise - would not be a great thing - So I hope that their reputation is deserved. Any suggestions from other Senegal Owners would be appreciated - Peacockjp @ Aol.com - I've had Parrotlets - Hand raised all of my babies - and they were mostly sweet as pie - but from time to time - You get one very nippy I had a Eclectus - (which I had to rehome because of a serious and prolonged - hospitalization. My Parrotlets - nipping - Well, I would just let them bite - I'm always assuming that they are biting because they want to train my behavior - If it doesn't stop - When bitten - I never jerked my hand away - (I did with one Parrotlet - used the cheapest thinnest garden glove from Loews. - I would just grin and bear it until the Parrotlet released - It usually took just took once - My Eclectus - was one of the sweetest animals - I've ever had She never bit - - When I put my hand in the cage - in front of her - in prep to teaching step up. She would take my finger in her beak - and of course - She could have taken off the finger - but she would sort of close it - I would not react - but I'd very quietly say "Do you really want to do that?" - She wouldn't move for a moment then cut her eyes to me - Then she'd put out her foot in prep for stepping up.

Yes, my Coco is very quiet. Compared to the parrot across the street I can say that Coco is extremely quiet. She has her times when she screams for attention but even then you can be right next to her and you won't feel the need to cover your ears, just to grin at her lol
What kind of suggestions about senegals are you looking for?

Hi everybody, Coco was making mile steps.
First day she was accepting treats as I mentioned before.
Second day the clicker arrived and she was not scared of it at all.
Third day I tried to train her with my hand inside her cage.
Fourth day I was doing that.
Fifth day I tried to offer her reward by reaching to her inside cage but din't work.
Sixth day accepting treats inside cage.
Now we are stuck.
She doesn't want to step up for me inside her cage although she knows how to do it.
Any suggestions what the next step should be?

Thanks guys!
