Baby Meyers learning tricks

So...so far I had my Gilly for five days...and she is doing so well. Stepping up is almost at 100%. But her nipping is still so-so. She really liked to bite down...we are still working on that. She is however doing flight recalls! I couldn't believe it, but I will hold up my arm and call her and she flies to me!

My questions is, what can i do to teach her the "go back to the cage" command? So far, I am putting her in the cage and saying "home" and once she is sitting on a perch I give her a treat. Am I on the right track?

The problem is, she is so affectionate and loves my company, that she hates going home. When I put her in her cage, she tries climbing up my arm!

I am also excited to start clicker and target training. I hope to teach her a few good tricks, but I am really unsure of how to start the "wings out" trick and the "waving" trick. Can anyone point me in teh right direction?

Yeah, slow down. There's no need to teach tricks or anything formal yet. Just enjoy the baby stages for the next few months. Introduce new foods and develop a bond. Training can always come later.

Thanks, Michael. I am definitely enjoying every moment of her. And not at all forcing anything on her. It is more for information. I am satisfied at this point that she is recognizing me and coming to me and is affectionate and will step up. That gives me the ability to properly bond with her.

I just like to think of eerything in advance and know what I will be doing tomorrow, next week, and a few months from now. Haha...I can't help it, I get excited about things.

I am also happy to report that she is eating veggies liek a pro, and wil basically eat anything I give her or show interest in myself. She was 119 grams when she left the breeder. when we were at the vet, she weighed in just barely over 100 . So i started cooking her meals and giving her veggies more, and yesterday she weighed in at 113 grams! So we are doing much better with that!

Veggies won't improve the weight. They are more water and less calories/nutrition. Feed more pellets, nuts, and seeds if you are concerned that the weight is low.

Thanks for the tip! I just bought some unsalted mixed nuts for her, and I have been cooking her eggs and a quinoa/9 grain organic hot cereal (which is just finely chopped grains). Hope to see her back to her pre-moving weight and maybe a little heavier.
