Adopt a female bird from a previously breeding pair?

Hi, I'm looking for some advice here. I have the opportunity to adopt a blue-fronted amazon female that was previously part of a breeding pair.

Is this something I should even consider? Would she be able to be trained as a companion parrot? Or am I asking for trouble?

Would she continue to lay eggs or would that stop eventually?

I'd be willing to do what it takes to adapt her to life as a companion parrot, but I want to know what I'm getting into first.

Is this bird still with its mate? If it is [thats a little sad].But anyway usually these birds are not handled much.She probably can make a companion parrot with lots of patience [shes going to be scared]'A big job for you. But I understand how when you find the ONE your going to make it work.You seem in the right situation,owning your own home and working there.What would be great is your going to give this parrot a more enriched life than its had being a breeder!!! Does she like you?

I haven't met the bird yet... I wanted to get some info first before I do. Im really considering it. I definitely have the time and patience to make it work. I know she won't be tame. Is it possible she could become tame with enough work? I'm willing to put forth the effort. I just hope I'm not getting in way over my head, as I do want her to be a pet and I'm not interested in homing a bird that can never be tame and interact with me.

So, with the proper training and taking things slow, she could become tame, right?

my first was a blue front he was not a breeder but did spend most of his life in a cage, until my mother brought him home,it did take time but it was well worth it.the egg laying can be stopped as long as you keep her out of small dark spaces during breeding season.

Question - what happened to her mate? Did it die? Did they seperate them because she did not lay?
Did he die? Has she already gone through morning?

If this would be the seperation she will be tramatized. If she has been alone for a while she might want to bond to you to make up for her loss.

Well, I'm sorry to say that the owner would not answer my questions or return emails after my initial contact, even though i told him i would likely take the bird. He finally contacted me today to tell me the bird had been rehomed. I can only hope she has gone to a better home than her previous one.
