Just curious

I've read over the internet that if you run out of kwik stop etc flour is another alternative, does it work? And what if your bird gets some of the flour in his/her mouth?

I've never had an incident where any of my birds have been bleeding so I can't tell you how effective it is. I don't see why it wouldnt be as it just helps the blood to clot.
Flour is harmless to the bird though if they swallow any. Obviously its best if you dab a bit on rather than coat the bird in it so the dust doesn't get into the respiritory system.

Flour works well if you don't have a product like QuikStop on hand. Flour will generally take a bit longer to work, and you may need to double up on the layering of it to fully stop any bleeding- but it does work! Perfectly fine for your bird to ingest it as well- no harm done.

I heard corn starch is actually better than some other choices because it isn't bad for parrots. So if you have to put it in a feathered area they can eat it when they preen
