Doesn't like me?

Postby AnniePani » Sun Sep 02, 2012 11:04 am

I'm afraid that my Charlotte doesn't like me, or that she prefers my boyfriend to me. :-/ Is there a way to tell?

That can happen that your parrot prefers someone else to you. As to her not liking you that's also possible but Nika my parrot (and I've read about others) will get cranky for a day or more! Nika was definitely crankier than normal for a whole week recently. So what you're experiencing could be normal. Just be patient. Because she's a baby you're in for serious ride when she hits puberty so i would practice patience now.

When Rambo was my only Amazon I was first person and my mother was second person. When my daughter moved in she became first person. Mom stayed second person and I am third.

With Myrtle I am first person and Mom second person. Rachel comes in third.

It's definitely possible... who spends the most time with Charlotte? That can make a difference...

I spend the most time. But he ends up giving her a lot of her meals because he's up first in the morning (for work) and I work evenings so he's the only one home at dinner time. ]-------otttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt3 (that was from Charlotte)7jhhhhhr She likes my keyboard. o

i adopted mya :corella: ,i also spend all day with her,and give her all her meals, treats and toys but my boyfriend who spends a total of 2 mins. a day with her on his way out the door for work is the one she prefers when he's around.when he's not there she wants to be with me.there's no way of knowing how or why a parrot chooses their favorite.

Yeah, who birds like as their favorite person is a mystery. My irn loves Johnny, my roommate, and as long as he's around I'm non-existent. My Alexandrine likes Patrick, my other roommate, even though he hates the bird. The Alex is normally a shy and reserved bird, but flies to Patrick every time he sees him, has relaxed body language when perched on him, makes happy noises for him, etc. This is in spite of the fact that Patrick tries to shoo him away constantly.

Aaaaahhhh. Tiki prefers me over my spouse, although she gets along great with him, too. I spend the most time with her and I feed her. Maybe be the one to feed your bird... or at least when you can, see if that makes a difference?
