Maybe Getting a Budgie -Need Opinions!

My aunt recently got a budgie from a Petland Store here in Saskatchewan (I live in Alberta, we are just visiting for the weekend, until Monday). She has just started to notice that she may be allergic to it, and has offered for me to take the bird; cage, toys, food and all. But my family is hesitant because we had all agreed on getting a budgie in December, not right now. However I wouldn't mind taking the budgie off her hands as long as my family is on board. She could take the budgie back to the store on those grounds, because the bird probably(I am not sure about that exact store, not all Petlands do the 30 day guarantee) has the 30 day guarantee.
We would be taking the budgie on a 7 hour car trip back home if we did decide to adopt her/him... but I am just not sure about it, it is very out of the blue and I am just a little unprepared.
So if anyone has any opinions or concerns they could voice, I am all ears! Please give me your honest opinion of the situation.

What's two more months? December will be here very soon, heck, there's already Christmas stuff at stores next to the Halloween stuff. Also, if your family was already planning on getting budgie -- and this little guy in particular needs a home, like, NAO -- then why the hesitation on taking him in?

It is less stressful to rehome and transport this little guy now than getting a bird in the winter in December. He also needs a home.
So I'd say go for it.
Its only two months difference anyway.

I agree with the others, if you've already been reading up then you will know enough to take care of its basic needs and we are all here to help if you have questions I had to learn as I went along as there was a lack of good information when I first started keeping birds, things are much better now on that front.

Sorry guys, that's for your much needed advice and opinions, but my parents decided against it without consulting me... However I will talk to my aunt about the bird and see if I can help either of them further.

They said it was too soon for the family, and after cooling off a bit I agree... I need to get some things sorted out before I add another pet to my life.
