Anyone in Portland, Or? cl rescue

Postby pukeko » Fri Nov 30, 2012 11:05 pm

Hi all, I've mentioned that I'm missing my bird before (two weeks until I leave and see her!), so after reading some posts on here about Craigslist and rescues, I checked out cl and unfortunately found a bird that just tugs at my heart strings. I did the same for local rescues but that bird seems to be in a lovely foster home. xp
The bird in question a young turquoise GCC that the owner obviously wasn't prepared to have, and from the pictures appears to be in a cage too small for a budgie without any perches and only one toy, though otherwise healthy. If I wasn't traveling in two weeks I would sorely love to take him in, but as I can't - are there any of you who might be able and inclined to do so?

Yours hopefully,
Pukeko and Suk :gcc:

Hi, I'm in the P-town area, but don't think I can help... Tiki is a handful as is and I am not ready to take in another bird. I am sorry. Perhaps someone else is in the area and can help?

When you return will you take in the bird?

P-town, Portland is referred to as P-town? Never heard that before. Is that just you or is it common?

I thought P-town was Provincetown, MA.

I am a native of Portland, Oregon and yes, many Portlanders call it P-town. Surely there is more than ONE P-town in the country, lol.

Hi Greenwing,

I would love to but don't think it is possible at this point - I am an international student living in a dorm which would not be at all safe for a bird unless I could stop people smoking outside and burning scents. Thank you though! Tiki does seem like a handful :D and I don't want to imagine what could happen if he decided to be as uppity as pyrrhura conures can be!

Is there anyone else about? This is the link: http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/pet/3446130588.html

Well good luck to you, Pukeko, I hope the bird is rescued by a loving owner...

I understand you, though... recently I went into Petco to get Tiki a new toy, and I saw a beautiful Indian Ringneck that I felt so bad for; I wanted to adopt her right away. The only thing that prevented me from doing so was Michael's warnings as well as my husband's voice of reason. :) I have to wait for Tiki to pass sexual maturity until I can even consider taking in another bird.
