there may be something that bandit perceives as new in the environment outside his cage. if he was previously confident and happy out of the cage, then this is a just a temporary spookout. rest assured, it will pass in time. just make the out of cage time upbeat and exciting and fun, with training, treats, playtime whatever you know from experience that he likes. to ensure that he is comfortable while out of the cage, you may want to place a towel over Lloyd's cage while Bandits out, so Lloyd doesnt nip at his feet. you can take the towel off when Bandit goes back into his own cage.

hope that helps! :)

That's a good idea for putting a towel in Lloyds cage hoping that he doesn't bite through it though.

Every thing Is the same nothing's Beene changed or moved but he's been like this the last couple of times and he's not paying attention at all and won't take the treats or do tricks and when I put my arms down he just tries to leap on my shoulder but he's not allowed on my shoulder

maybe you could try putting a folded quilt over Lloyd's cage - just the top part where Bandit is likely to land - that would give enough extra layers i would think between Lloyds beak and bandits feet. You can layer another folded quilt over the first one, however many as necessary to make it thick enough to prevent Lloyd's nips from carrying through to the other side.

he may have gotten spooked by something that was a passing phenomenon, and is still dealing with it. i would say, don't worry too much about what may have happened. just keep a watch on his overall health to be sure he's not sick, and take him to the vet if you think its necessary, but otherwise, just give him some time to gather his spirits again.

as far as the shoulder leaping goes - that's a clear sign that he's insecure. my bird still tries to do that constantly whenever he feels insecure. i guess one way around it is to train him to stay off the shoulder - there's a thread in the Taming and Training section called "Tallest Bird" where me and a couple of other posters are talking about this - check out charlieandkiwi's advice re: shoulder jumping at the bottom of the thread - its helpful!

I also have been training my insecure bird the "wait" command. I started with a one second wait, and now he is able to sit in one place for thirty seconds. it really helps to calm him down and build confidence, because he's learning that he doesnt have to be surgically attached to me to feel secure.

hope this helps! by the way, i forgot which thread you posted this one but i thought the heading "why the long face bandit" fo rhis photo was great! :D keep us posted on Bandits progress and dont worry he'll come around

Bandits been in his new cage for about 10 minutes an has a lot more space now so hopefully that will help I upload a if of it it's in the off topic section is where I'm putting the photos.

Ill probably go through the whole tallest bird thread to get as much info as possible.you said something about his fear being a passing phenomenon it might be from moths or flies he has an absolute hatred for them and is scared of them and its summer now so there's more flies than usuall.

Thanks for the replies friends2parrots I will try to give you as much info as you give me
