Senegal attacks blanket when covering at night

Postby shmee » Sat Jan 05, 2013 4:22 pm

That's basically it, at night when I want to prepare him for sleep I like to cover him with a couple of blankets so he gets a bit snuggly and doesn't get cold; nights are pretty cold here at the moment.

However when I'm covering him with the blankets he starts niping them, he doesn't scream or look mad though, the thing is that I'm not sure if it's a clear "no." or if it's just like an interaction with the material to prepare to doze off, a bit like we do when we tuck in.

I would have no problems on leaving the blankets out for a try, the thing is that I like to sleep with him on my bedroom and he goes to sleep a lot sooner than I do. :(

Thanks  :senegal:

it would be very dark and birds cant see at night and when they cant see they can get aggressive when they hear sounds or movements of anykind

Interesting, I cover Tiki's cage with a light cloth with no problems...

Assuming this is an aggressive response, maybe try introducing the blanket to your Sennie outside of the cage environment. Let the bird check it out and see you wrap up in it (lol), so your Sennie knows it's nothing to be afraid of.
