My boyfriend's aunt and uncle have a greyhound and do have a coat for her in the winter (lovely Canadian winters..) and do have a raincoat for her since she HATES rain.

These people would be amongst the last I would see dress up their dog for fun.

On another note, I went to the pet store today and saw a lady with a baby carriage for her two tiny dogs.
Don't these dogs need to walk?!?! (Sorry, I never understood the principle of carrying your dog anywhere, walking allows it to spend energy!)

Urg, that's another area of anger for me.
I'm a dog person but if I take my dog somewhere with me (which I often do) he's on a leash, heeling and behaving.
I HATE those 12 ft extend-o-leashes. That's just trouble waiting to happen!
People who carry around their dogs are not helping their dogs.
Big or small the dog should walk/heel with their person.
Walk your dogs! Big or small! They need the exercise! I don't think those people understand that an exercised dog is a calm dog!
Oh well. We can't fix everything can we? Otherwise there would be a test before you could own pets! ;)

I guess you've never been to NYC where purse puppies are the new fashion. I almost had a heart attack standing on the subway once where a head popped out of a woman's purse! They get these special fashion purses and walk around with a dog head popping out of it. Drive me nuts that people do that!

I've seen those type of purses...mind boggling is what it is.

What is the problem with having your dog walk? Why treat it as a fashion accessory too??

To top it off, I think they rehome them once they get too big to fit in their purse!

You can thank bimbo Paris Hilton for that.
She got those teacup dogs and when it got to big she got rid of it and got new ones.
I think we should get bags for our parrots and let them pop out and bite the odd dog people that don't walk their dogs... :P

Me too!
On rare occasions it's necessary like on greyhounds who don't hold in their body heat.
Everyone else needs to knock it off!
So no clothes for my parrots.
I don't like the flight suits either.

My boxer wears a jacket in the winter (avg. temp. is about -35 celsius) he doesn't have a thick enough coat of his own to keep warm. My lab X has enough of a natural coat that she doesn't need one.

I don't regularily dress up my animals, but I do have a few holiday themed costumes for my dogs that are worn maybe once a year. I love Halloween and dog costumes, but they're worn on Halloween only.

I've considered getting a flight suit before. Not one of the costume ones but just a regular one. I think it would be convenient for when I'm out of the house with my bird in some situations.

Each to their own I guess. ;)

If the dogs don't mind the costumes, I think it's ok. If they're fighting you about it and trying to rip them off, it's probably better not to force them to wear it.

I agree. I just stumbled across this image:

Makes me sad :( . There's no way that dog is comfortable.

I understand people having strollers for their animals, but only if they're using it because their dog or cat is injured and can't walk itself. That way they still get the fresh air and get mentally stimulated by going to new places. But if your animal is fully capable of walking, it should! You're not doing your animal any favors by not letting it exercise and be healthy.
