Fredbird Harness?

Postby Dasphatness » Mon Mar 04, 2013 5:15 pm

What are your thoughts on the Fredbird Harness?

I was reading some reviews and really no one seems too disapointed with the product other than the willingness of their birds to cooperate with it. It looks a lot like the aviator harness, but is much more affordable at most sizes being under $20. Now I know you get what you pay for, but I just wanted to see if anyone else here had any experiences with this specific harness.

**Upon reading more into it, im guessing the key differences are the leads that the products come with. The Aviator Harness seems to be made for what it is named for; Secure Aviation. Where as the Fredbird Harness comes with a 6' lead made pimarily security/safety.**

One for flying, one for not. The aviator sounds like the better of the two given the situation of use.
Then again there are those that take birds on outings and just want a secure harness which can still be achieved by the more affordable Fredbird Harness.

Any thoughts? :amazon:

The link wont work for the fredbird harnesses for me, even if I C&P it.

Personally i can't fault the aviator and thats without me having fully trained mine into wearing it.
I think even if your not planning to fly your bird the elasticated lead is better, just in case the bird does take flight, it wont just jerk in to a crash land when it reaches the end of the line.
If you buy direct from the parrot university, shipping is free to most countries (or used to be) and the prices are actually cheaper than buying from a store/online shop.
and no, I dont work for them.

Now I shall go google this fredbird harness :)

yeah, i came across this harness also in my online research. if i'm not mistaken, i think the name of the harness is "The Kaylor Collar", and its made by a guy named Fred Bird. i am not sure if it is called the Fredbird Harness - but maybe they changed its name?

i think at this point I'm going to go with the aviator, because its been more widely recommended, and in wider usage than the Kaylor Collar.

nevertheless it would be worthwhile to learn more about the kaylor collar/fredbird harness. i'll post here if i discover or hear anything about it.

Aviator harness is the way to go, it's very lightweight, easy to put on, no funky clasps of hooks, and basically escape-proof.

You are correct. I am not sure why the link would not work. Seems to work fine on my office computer, my tablet (expensive bird toy), and my home PC.
