Have your fids brought out creativity?

Postby Utoomom » Wed Mar 20, 2013 4:45 pm

I use to be very creative when I was younger...then, marriage, kids..etc..my individual creativity sorta deluded itself. Since Elvis has been in my life, creativity has surfaced once again..I find myself jumping on materials I see anywhere I go that might be a fun toy to put together for him...um? hey, that box would work with plastic bottles filled with nuts, hey! that colored paper could be intergrated in that cool looking net. ...Wow! those huge buttons would make a cool addition to the plastic link chain...It's so much fun that I have no time to worry about sweating the small stuff .. This guy has blessed me with a really special gift I thought I had lost... :danicing:

Glad to hear it, its actually quite fun to do, especially when you see the birds enjoying themselves with the results.
Unfortunately I'm not blessed with much of an imagination or creative side but even the simplest ideas can create many hours of amusement for our feathered friends :)

I would say they definitely have, in the line of shopping! :D whenever I walk into an arts and crafts store, a pet store, a home improvement store, WHATEVER kind of store, I keep a lookout for products that I can use for some "bird-related" purpose... and end up bringing a ton of stuff home under the excuse of "creativity" ! :D

Cool question! I'm definitely looking at things through different eyes lately, to re-purpose materials as bird toys. It's made shopping fun. I've just made a climbing toy out of silk and plastic flowers and another one out of seashells...they've been a huge hit so far. Finding ways to use things around the house as enrichment toys has become a fun new pastime, too. Marvin loves climbing inside things, so a cut plastic milk carton has become a fun echo chamber and hide box and a cut plastic ginger ale bottle has become a fun toy that he uses like a treadmill to roll around the room. I am also working on a durable, bird-safe wall collage above my fireplace that will include a couple of cool, arty perches. He's definitely rekindled my imagination. :)
