I was surprised at how expensive store-sold stands are. So why not make your own?
I used a t-perch (mine has some extra pegs coming off to the sides but it doesn't matter), an old dowel perch, two washers, a screw, and a lamp base from a broken lamp.
Just drill a hole into one end of the dowel perch and twist in the screw-end of the perch. Unscrew the lamp pole off of the base, slide a washer under and one over and screw the dowel into place.
Woohoo!
