My DIY Cage Replacement Perch

Postby cstambaugh » Mon Dec 09, 2013 5:55 pm

I just noticed this section on the forums, and thought I'd share some of my DIY's.

My greenwing's cage replacement (the light has been moved away since this pic)

The entire front of the base is a slide out drawer to hide food and toy's in rotation

I regularly change out the perches and rearrange them based on what he likes and actually uses. Here it is today

I've made a lot of toys, but never took any pics before they were torn up.
I'm going to start making and selling toys and perches that are reasonably priced to the bird community.
It'll keep me busy and help you guys from buying a stick for $30 just because its called a perch. :)

Looks cool Cstambaugh. I was wondering though, how are you going to ship them?
In pieces flat? Would you include little ikea-style directions?

Nice perch-work. Makes me wish I'd taken wood shop at school. ;)

I almost have that exact light in my kitchen! Did you end up removing it altogether...?

As I wrote in my other post, all electical wires that are unprotected are a potential life threatening hazard for a biting parrot.

It's up to each and everyone, but all hanging lamps have been removed from all the rooms to which the parrots have access here. I've replaced them with ceiling lights with no wires. I'd rather not have an electricuted parrot :(.
