Are Ping Pong Balls Safe to Chew?

Postby Scotty13 » Fri Aug 22, 2014 3:32 am

My Yellow Nape Amazon loves to chew up plastic balls with the holes in them. I was wondering if ping ball balls would be safe for him to play with and "IF" he can end up chewing them? Do you think the plastic is safe?
Thanks,

I do not consider them to be safe and I also don't think of plastic as safe either.

Thanks for that. What about the plastic golf balls with the holes in them?

personally I much prefer untreated wood and natural fibers such as sisal and palm fronds. I suppose that plastic may be relatively safe provided that they can not bite or break or tear pieces of it off. If they can then there may be a anger of swallowing some of these pieces.

I use the practice golf balls as props. Corsair loves to retrieve them and drop them in my hand or a birdy basketball hoop/net. But it does require supervision, because even my little Meyer's Parrot can make a tear between two of the holes, and possibly remove part of it-if I don't get there first.
