Hi.

I've had my green cheek conure since last Thursday and he has quite a few toys to play with, hanging and other ones. However, it seems it hasn't touched any of them as of yet.

Does it take time for it to start playing / chewing?

You do not say how old he is. If he is a baby he has to be taught to play. If he is older then he must feel secure before he interact with toys or you. Just keep trying.

You have only had him for a short time so everything is new and strange to him and because of this he has not relaxed yet. Be patient with him and spend a lot of time hanging out with him and talking and singing to him as parrots love singing. I think that it takes at least a month for them to begin to feel that this is home. Don't be concerned that he doesn't play with his toys, instead play with them yourself where he can see you doing it and then give them to him. Don't start trying to train him yet as it is too soon, let him get accustomed to his new home and to you. Your focus needs to be on earning first his trust and then his love.
