My Cockatiels played with toys when they were caged. Now that they have their own room they enjoy flying more than playing with toys. I put part of a bale of Timothy hay on the floor in that room. They have it scattered everywhere while digging for the seeds.

Yes, that's exactly my experience, too, Liz. Caged birds play with toys but cage-free birds tend to slowly switch over to more wild behaviors... My tiels used to love getting branches with leaves on them, they would pluck every single one of them to drop on the floor as soon as I would put them up - try that with yours and see what happens.

Dare I start talking about the baby lap tops that Pod adores? I'm forever scorned over. But, he never chews them. Just obsessively sets the buttons off by walking on them. Anyway, can the person who posted pics of homemade atom hanging gyms please tell how u made them and what u used. They are cool. Please, thanks.

If he is not chewing on it then I think that the baby lap top is a great idea.

My sincerest apologies, but I feel the need to counter your statement... With this video of wild galahs. :D

Because if this isn't playing, I'm not sure what is.
