I'd be too worried personally of loose threads that can pose a danger to do this myself =/

Plus if they see old t shirts to tear, would they not try the same with new t shirts? How are they to know what is old and what is new?

T-shirt cotton is a weave not loops so it should not pose a risk to catch toes. I used white cotton undershirts cut into strips and tied them around a stainless circle clamp and added tied drinking straws for a preening toy....

I have a friend who did something similar - she uses old t-shirts cut into strips and then puts them around a circular thing (such as a hula hoop) and voila, cheap swing (just going to add, yes hula hoop but she has two large macaws...)

Why old rather than new? Well it's a new use for a shirt you are no longer going to wear ;)

Personally, my old shirts become "bird shirts", aka shirts I wear around the birds since I like to avoid any, hmm, "accidents" they might have while on me on any clothing I might want to wear out ;)

Hi skeetersunconure

Thanks for sharing, I'm going to try doing this too as my Princess Parrot isn't playing with the toys I've bought for him so far. This is a cheap and save way to experiment.
