The RBs enjoying the new tree

Postby Natacha » Mon Oct 11, 2010 7:33 pm

I got a new Java table stand for the birds yesterday.

Not that I was planning to get another, but I'm convinced the store mislabeled the price (this store is notorious with sometimes having excessive mark-ups) and since I found it neat looking (and my boyfriend liked it even more than I did), I got it.

Quick trip on the Kings Cage website, I got it for less than KC sells it, and normally any of their items found in Canada are a tad more expensive than what is on their website..so...

The table stand is on our table...mind you, it had long been overtaken by bird stuff, the only none-bird related thing on it is whatever computer my boyfriend is using (mostly his work laptop).

As of now, it really seems like this mini-tree is Pixel's..she has spent the most time on it so far.

I have a few pictures from this morning, where both Red-bellieds were exploring the tree, playing with whatever toys I added on the designated hooks.

Great pictures! I really need to get one of those. Maybe I'll find a good deal at the parrot conference next month.

Not this one.
This one I purchased in a pet store on the Quebec side.

My first Java table stand I got from Critter Jungle though.
Here's a picture (from last year, after I bought it)

I find lately the ones they had at Critter weren't right for my guys.

I got a second one at Pet Circus (on Bank street)
A picture (from last year as well)

And I got a small full size Java tree (aka not table stand) at the Canadian Parrot Conference in Guelph last year
Picture..

I added the vet wrap to those trees..haven't done so on the new one and hoping I won't have too now that the birds have become used to the Java wood (which can be a bit slippery).

Erhm...on which pictures? The first few of newest tree? That one would be a forraging-type toy I bought in a local pet store.

One of the other parrot accessories I like is my get-a-grip net...I have a medium-small hanging right now in the bird room..and have a medium-long still in the box (a store had a crazy sale and I couldn't pass it at that price) waiting for me to have more space to hang it...

Well Petey doesn't really get along with any of them. He's learned to tolerate others better but he can be a bit mean to the others, which is why we keep an eye on him (more so than with the others).

Part of Zuri's fun is to chase the others. Not attack..just chase. I think he enjoys making them fly away when he approaches. Thing is, if one of them stands it's ground, then Zuri just backs away. Harmless fun but it can be annoying at times. The only bird he doesn't do this to is Shade. He really likes Shade.

Shade is pretty easy going with all the other birds and even wanted to be "friends" with Piper I'm sure (offering her head for preening). Piper wants nothing of it.

Pixel is pretty easy going as well, except with Shade...I don't know if it's because both are the only females or if it's solely for my attention (but then..she should not like Piper very much either), but if she had a chance, I'm sure she'd try to pick a fight with Shade. I keep an eye on her whenever she's close to Shade.

Joey...well Joey is Joey and would rather spend time with us than with the birds. He doesn't have a problem with any of them but would probably not mind if they weren't around. Let him be and he'll let you be.
