I was just going to say the same thing but then I decided to look them up. I can't see anywhere that says what kind of wood they are made of and if they are treated with anything. If they are untreated pine they'd be fine.

Thanks, sorry I should have been more specific. They are thin wooden shapes that found at Michael's but didn't buy them because the packaging does not say what the wood is made of. I have tried e-mailing the company but so far no response.

I dug around a little, and I think you're stuck with getting info from the manufacturer... try to find out both what type of tree the wood comes from and if it is treated in any way. It is a little more expensive, but a number of sources sell wooden toy parts explicitly for birds and I buy mine from those sources... I'm too lazy to do the legwork of checking them out myself!
