whats on the christmas list for you're birds?

Postby TheNzJessie » Thu Dec 16, 2010 1:35 am

i thought this would be an interesting read if everyone shared if there getting anything for the'r birds for christmas.

for me im going in a weeks times to the bird barn (i went yesterday but not for christmas shopping) im going like 2 days before christmas to do my shopping for my birds.

for christmas i have some big toys (mostly shredder for jango) i dont buy him shredding toys because they are like $40 a pop and i can make something he would equally enjoy destroying. my budgie loves swinging and bells so what better to get a swing that has bells?

feel free to share anything you have planned for you're birds for christmas and who knows we might get some ideas off each other!

i also had an aviary planned for them but unexpected vet bill came up for my cat. aviary will have to wait for a couple more weeks

There's a feed store nearby that has birds and bird supplies. I'm getting the kids a triangle shaped hut thing made from cloth from there. It's to sit in on cold nights. Parrotlets like to cuddle inside little nooks like that.

For Hades and Perseus, I'm not sure. I think I'm going to get Perseus a foraging toy of some sort and Hades a bell toy.

I want to make something to enhance the acrobatic potential of their cage top playgyms. It might be as simple as putting in cieling hooks for a couple of boings, or building a PVC box with places to hang swings, toys and a climbing net. Both cage top dealies have just one toy hook and one perch!

Scooter also wants a little java tree or other playstand that can go on my desk. I have the vague notion this will make him content hanging out there so that I won't find him shimmying down the cables behind the desk when I get distracted. Well I can hope, right?

You know those cages I'm going to order for my birds? They've been back-ordered to January. Christmas is going to come a little late for my guys...

But hopefully, I'm going to be getting a aviator flight suit for Einstein. I'd love for him to be able to go outside with me in the warmer months.

I got some custom toys for my Pois from Things for Wings.
I got a small balsa toy from the Rosie line at "Les Jouets Rosie" (translated to Rosie's toys).

And I participated in a Secret Santa gift exchange on another forum and the birds got a few goodies, turns out my Secret Santa was the owner of Oliver's Garden!

Natacha, you seem to know a lot of Canadian online stores, could you give me a list of them?

Things for Wings
Les Jouets Rosie (you can use google translator on the first page)
Avian Organics (great food!)
Oliver's Garden
Healthy Bird
La Voliere (again, there is a translator on the page)
West Coast Tropical Studio (got a Get-a-grip net there)
Birdy Boredom Busters

and finally, I've never purchased from these stores online, but have in person (Parrotdise Perch in their store in Mississauga and from Exotic Wings and Things at last year's Canadian Parrot Conference)
Parrotdise Perch (can be a bit pricey for some things)
Exotic Wings and Things

That is all I can think of for now...I know there are more, but I don't necessarily buy from them..
