I'd definitely put in a vote for http://www.24parrot.com- I'm also here in the UK and it's were I get all of my parroty supplies: much more reliable than eBay or my local 'Pet Smart'.

They can be a little more expensive than some other sources, but it's not normally by that much - and at least you know that all of their stuff is good. Both their customer service and speedy delivery is also fantastic - and they have a no quible returns policy too. I normally bulk order stuff so that I can take advantage of their free postage...

I've been using Harrisons with Isis, and she did love them - but she's now changed allegiance to Optibird http://www.24parrot.com/OptiBird-Complete-Food-for-Medium-Parrots--4-sizes-P565002A/. Can't say I'm too upset, cos it's a lot cheaper!!

How did you decide to change them? or did you have both and she just preferred the optibird? thats 2 people now choosing optibird. I just bought a bag of harrisons which I started today but they're tiny and Im not sure yet if Lorenzo likes them as a meal (well he hasnt got much choice right now). paid 10.40 (I THINK) for delivery from the harrison uk site but that will be too much if they go off too fast and he doesnt manage to eat all. id hate to throw them away.

Optibird- I keep looking at the picture of them but they just look----unapetizing.lol...I prefer a clean look, all pellets the same size. optibird looks crushed up alot. does it really look like that or was it just the picture putting me off?
maybe ill have to change to optibird eventually did isis enjoy harrison?

I really wish someone would sell roudybush in the uk

been there, researched that ... gave up in utter despair ... sadness ... they get tv shows earlier then us and roudybush. lol.

how do you feed that to your birds, just over their food or with a spoon?

what i do is i melt it until it's liquid and then drip a few drops on their food, then mix it up.

you went from something more expensive though, i went from premier seeds, £8 for 4kg?, to £15 for 2kg. my parents look at me like i'm a crazy bird lady.

i did flounder a bit with how ... ugly it looked as well, but it actually looks okay, and it doesn't smell as rank as the seeds used too, apparently quite citrus-y. it says on the packet that they made it look crushed so that the birds have different sizes and shapes to work on - good for their gizzards or something (sorry ... really late. need sleep)


the best thing i can say about them is that when put in a couple of spoonfulls of the trial sized packet of harrisons i got (which they have had, and enjoyed before). both tiels came rushing at their bowls to eat, dipped their heads and then stopped and looked up at me in utter despair. not even mixing some optibird in it worked - i threw away a lot.

Yep - she was weened on a parrot seed mix, but didn't seem to have any problems switching straight to the Harrisons - and even prefered it to the seed mix. She was very happy on the Harrisons for a month or so, and I only bought a trial bag of the OPtibird for some variety (I don't think any animal can be happy eating the same thing day after day - other than a cow maybe...!). OPtibird is a third of the price though - and Isis seems to like it even more than she did the Harrisons

The pellets are different sizes and textures - they call it 'crumlett technology' - but that seems to give some natural variety and interest. It also has chunks of stuff like pumpkin seed, dried berries and hips in it too (Isis *loves* the hips!). It smells sweeter and fresher than the Harrisons - and has a firmer texture that seems to fall apart less (which means less wastage too).

I think ill change to optibird then. i did just spend over 10pound on the harrisons so ill try use as much as i can but Lorenzo isnt really taking to it, still refusing it. you were lucky
but hes a spoilt fussy little one who will always want it his way. He eats the pellets from my hand but thats it.

haha always like that, the best most expensive pellets and he doesnt want them,
the best expensive toys, he doesnt want to play with them
cashew nuts, brazil nuts, pecan nuts...any expensive nut he doesnt want...only peanuts.
exotic fruits i try to find that conures eat in the wild...he doesnt like them!

For roudybush...i dont know hey, I guess we have 30 odd years of the birds life to wait for them to show up here haha.
