Hi
I will try to find a pic, in the meantime, look up some sites on play gyms.
If you are handy with a simple hand saw, buy some 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch white PVC plumbing pipe and a selection of fittings like elbows, tees, wyes etc. to form ladders, perches, swings, like the monkey bars or climbing sets at the park etc. and add a feeder cup or two on top. You don't have to glue the parts together if you choose. The stuff is really cheap at any hardware or home center.

Try out that link. It gives step by step instructions to a particular gym stand a parrot owner has made from piping. I was considering making one myself at some point, but a little bit different :)
so long as you have the parts, you can make what ever you like.

Heres another idea for you. using some twine make a net that you can wind onto the back of the play gym to give something to climb up and down on. attach some wooden blocks / other items to play with and chew whilst on the net. I'm sure you can find some online instructions on how to make a simple net good enough for your bird :) just make sure s/he won't get caught in the holes!

Here are pictures of the first three home-made Desk-Top Stand and PlayGyms I constructed from inexpensive materials: wood dowels, plastic plate, aluminum cookie sheet, ready made wood tray from Hobby Lobby, two bird ladders, screws, one adhesive laminate tile and adhesive felt pads for feet. I wouldn’t recommend the wood tray since it’s too hard to clean even with the laminate tile liner. The cookie sheet is the most expensive item, but it’s extremely easy to clean. The stuffed parrot toy, on playgym #1, was purchased to help my little alpha-GCC get used to the idea of the soon to be purchased second FID.

Here's a picture of a 3X5 foot Climbing Net I made from 140 feet of 1/2 inch Sisal. Now I know why they are so expensive since they eat up lots of rope for their size and are very labor intensive. The next time I'll try Superior Cotton which should be easier to tie.
The next picture is my last inexpensive project, a larger Desktop Simple Perch for my new FID. I don't know yet what species he/she will be, only general size. This was made from an inexpensive 14X17 inch cutting board, dowels and adhesive felt pads. I wanted something portable, stable and easy to clean. The only thing I'm not sure of is 'splatter' since the edges aren't curved upward. Sharpie Highlighter is for scale reference. ;) :gcc:

RE: GlassOnion - I used a washer head screw and larger fender washer, pre-drilled the hole in the plate and smaller diameter hole in the dowel. The washer spreads the load and stiffens the perch. Adhesive felt pad feet protect the desk/table from the screw head. :gcc: ;)
