Help! I need a toy to help my bird form not shreding!

My Yellow Nape amazon will Shred his newpaper (bottom of cage) To shreds! What might help him not do this?

Does the bottom of the cage not have a grate over the top of the newspaper? I thought the cage bottom was usually covered by a grate so that the bird couldn't get to it.

Offer him a lot of shreddable toys with paper, wood, vine, etc- he sounds like he may be bored, keeping his beak busy is very very important. I also suggest foraging toys, maybe wrap some treats in Newspaper and hang it in his cage.

I suggest buying toys from online vendors as opposed to petstores, I learned that you get much better quality products for better prices.

I would also recommend having more shredding toys.

make the news paper as boring as possible by making toys with heaps of paper in front of him he will see you having so much fun with these toys your making the new paper will become boring if you have no interest in it and hopefully his jealousy will take over and he will want the toys you have made. i think thats why birds like our keyboards so much... you could always swap the newspaper for boring old paper towels that make hardly any noise, hes might just like the noise it makes when it rips

It does. But he sticks his foot/claw down through the grate, and then grabs it, then tears.

--We've given him MANY toys tto shred, but he tears them up in two minutes, then shreds more paper! >.<

dont put any new paper in the botton of his cage and wash off the trau everyday until he relises there is nothing in the bottom, starting using news paper again and see if he relises its there again
