Harness vs. Flight Suit

Postby AmazonServant » Fri Jun 24, 2011 10:58 pm

I've been intending to get my Amazon a harness for some time now. For years she wouldn't let me pet or touch her at all except to step up, but in the past year she's gotten much better and lets me handle, pet and snuggle her fairly often. I'm so excited that now I can finally take her outside with me, since I'll be able to get her into a harness!

But I never realized there were different kinds of harnesses. I was just going to get her a regular one so I could take her for walks outside, to the park, to street fairs, etc. But now I'm thinking that if I were to get her a flight suit with a leash attachment, then I could take her out and not have to worry about her pooping on my shoulder or in a shop or something. That said, it doesn't really seem necessary. If we were just going to be outside, would a flight suit get gross and filled with poop? How long is too long for wearing a flight suit without changing the liner? Are flight suits more restricting or more uncomfortable than regular harnesses?

I suppose I figure that if I'm going to spend the money, I may as well get a dual-purpose item. But then, if going for the flight suit causes more inconvenience or discomfort, I'd rather just be safe and go for a regular harness. Thoughts or recommendations?

The Aviator Harness is the safest harness out there, and also the simplest in design. My Cockatiel has one and it's very easy to put on. I suggest you get one of those. :)
