Makeing Toys

I have soke ideas for some toya and I'm eanting to know if some things are safe. Such as:
Straws (will they swallow it?)
Corks from wine bottles (could his replace useing wood to keep down thier beak or no)
Grafitti paper
Tie rap
Beads from mardigras
And does it matter what string i use?

If you go to a dollar store, you can buy bulk 50-100 Popsicle sticks for a dollar or two, seriously. Much cheaper than buying a box of Popsicles and trying to clean the sticks after eating them. I made rectangular tunnels for mine, and she loves flipping it over and running around in it

any you buy anything that is dyed make sure its dyed with vegetable dyes then it is completely safe. i give my budge straws. i would supervise a cockatiel with them, i wouldn't use wine corks but corks from grape juice would be fine

Can you tell me why to supervise him. and why not not to use wine corks? (aorry i learn better that way lol)

I have to watch my tiel w/any toy he can destroy, to be sure he doesn't ingest any of it. I had an employee at a pet store tell me that birds won't ingest anything (toy wise) that is harmful, but I've seen Aaron pick a piece of those rubbery porcupine toys off & eat it, so I watch him pretty carefully.

do you mean what Pamela Clark was saying? If so, she was saying she doesn't feel corks would be a problem for a bird whose immune system isn't compromised by poor general health.

i would supervise a cockatiel at first because they are bigger and more destructive than budgies. supervise them to make sure they are not swallowing any of the straw. also corks from wine bottle could contain traces of alcohol which is a huge no no for any bird so you would want to take corks from a bottle that has had a non alcoholic drink in it such as grape juice
