I went to the local hardware store and bought some dowel rods and some rope and just kinda got creative in the garage. I threw this together in a little less than an hour. Kiwi LOVES it. I slotted all the legs of it so it can sit on top of the cage without worries of it sliding around, or i could just set it on whatever table is closest to me.

Very creative! Wish I had that kinda imagination, talent, and patience.

Did ya ever think about goin' into the birdie gym biz...? Notta bad way to spend some free time and make a couple extra bucks at the same time.

I like it, especially with the ropes. What kind of wood and rope did you use? rambo won't get in the tree but he would get on that.

The rope is just a rope i had in my garage, Not sure what kind. I know it isnt like a nylon or any synthetic type of thing.I'm not exactly sure what kind of wood it is either, i just grabbed stuff without putting much thought into it.

Total the cost of the parts. If it is cheaper to buy larger quantities and cut them down you can do that. Just devide by the number of units the parts make to get the price of one then double that for resale. Keep track of the time you invest in building one and add the charge for your labor. That would be your unit selling price.

Check to make sure your wood and rope are not treated with formaldihide or some other harmful preservative.

Check online suppliers with similar products to see if you are comparable or can beat their price.

If you make it prefab you can even ship them. If the cost does not work out to be too high and the shipping is reasonable, I will buy the first one.

Gee, I'm really not sure...but I'll bet if ya do a bit of searchin' online you'll come up with an answer.

And seein' as tho ya have the perfect "forum" right here, pics and word of mouth can be a HUGE asset for ya! We already see that ya have the knack and the knowledge, so I say go for it.....especially durin' these "in between jobs" days.

I wish ya loads of luck, AND, I'll probably be in touch if ya DO decide to go for it :-)

Liz and DonnaJean(or anyone else), quick question, would you pay $35 for this? (i'm just talking theoretically, and if you saw this locally)
Its 16" tall, and the two short sides are about 12" each.

I think I would probably pay around $20. It looks pretty awesome and my cockatiell would love it.
