Making a PVC training perch

Postby laducockatiel » Thu Aug 18, 2011 6:03 am

I am planning to make a PVC training perch for my cockatiel. Has anyone here made or is making a PVC perch for their parrot? I would really appreciate some tips on building one so thank you to anyone who replies.

Here's a link to What kind of PVC perch I would like to build:

that's a nice little link! I made a pvc stand for my Get-a-Grip net a while back (my tiel didn't like it hung from the ceiling). Got advice on how to do it from this forum! It was super easy, & I'm a non-mechanically inclined girl! ;)

Tips: 1) you don't have to use glue at the connectors. Jam the pvc in there tight, & it's not a problem. If you decide you do want to use glue, opt for something non-toxic, like Elmer's. 2) use vet-wrap on the pvc so it's not too slick for birdie. 3) do a search here for "pvc". You'll find more tips & ideas! 4) do a search for "pvc bird play gym" on the internet for even more ideas.

My next project is to build my tiel a pvc play-gym. The gyms I've seen on line that I like are waaay too expensive. I think, w/all the ideas I've seen here & elsewhere on-line, I can build something my tiel will like just fine!

Share a pic when you're done!

Thanks, it should be done in 1 or 2 weeks so I'll post a pic when I'm done.
