First of all, welcome back :D I am in high school now as well and my cockatiel is fine throughout the day. I give him a veggie mash or birdie bread and some foraging toys. The foraging toys keep his mind stimulated. I make them but I'm hoping to buy some soon as well. To make one, get some tissue paper, stuff it with millet and then you're done! Nice and simple. You cam also buy some like the buffet ball (I am hoping to buy one too). Your budgie will hopefully be playing throughout the time you are at school and will be ok.

You two are showing that the youth of today do have some responsible individuals. Kudos.

Michael did a great thing by setting up this forum.

Think about how wonderful it is that you two were born into an age that gives you the ability to communicate with people like yourselves in other parts of the world and share info on the birdies you love. (I may not know you but I am proud of you for taking responsibility for your little feathered beings.)

That said, Birds like grapes and really like the twigs they come on. They get hours of fun with the twig. A folded paper plate is hours of destruction. It can be put in the cage or wedged between the bars. Crack a boiled egg in the middle and scoop it out leaving a little attached to the shell. They have to work at getting the egg out. If you mom cooks eggs ask her to break it at the end. Clean out the filiment in cold water then nuke it in the microwave in water (you can do more than one at a time and save the others). Let it dry and fill it with a few millet seeds or something they really like. A plastic bottle cap is also fun just wash it first. A toilet paper tube if it has no glue is a different shape and texture than they are used too. Think out of the box.

Thanks very much! I really try my hardest to look after him as well as possible and he is the best pet I could ever have. I am happy with sharing info about birds because sometimes it can really benefit the owner. It is good that other bird owners are asking questions, it means they too also want to look after the bird as best as possible. And I would also really want to thank Michael for setting up the forum, I have learned a lot, and I am still learning, about looking after birds. Thank you very much michael
