I will make bird toys, need your suggestions

I want to make toys for my cockatiel can you tell if this materials are parrot safe and can you recommend list of materials that is easy to find and safe for birds

Here is the list of materials I want to try. Can you tell me if this is safe

Plastic straws
Tongue depressor or popsicle sticks
Cardboard
Deck of cards
Beads ( can i used plastic beads?)
Yarn or what kind of rope you suggests
Corrugated cardboard

Sounds great! However, the deck of cards might have poisonous inks, and make sure that your bird cant swallow the plastic beads.

I fill up store-bought finch nests with shredded paper, toys and treats as foraging toys for my green cheek. Untreated straw baskets would be good, too. Cardboard boxes are a lot of fun for birds, too (although it can encourage nesting behaviour, so if it makes your bird a little territorial you might want to skip it).

As foot toys I sometimes use:
little chunks of tree branch drilled with holes (you can fill them with seeds or bits of nut)
Straws tied in knots (she loves this)
wooden pegs

Black and white newspaper is generally considered by most experts safe, but stay away from coloured pages. Brown paper is the best, as white paper has more chemicals.

I asked my breeder what is the personality of my soon to have tiel, he said he likes shiny objects. What kind of safe materials or toys should I have/make for my bird?

Is mirror also not allowed on cockatiel's cage? Is it true that they will not bond with you if you put mirror?
