More homemade toys!!

Oh can you tell me what tipe of wood are afe for the parrots too? I heard Pine is safe, is it really? becaus I can buy the wood and cut it myself to make toys..

we dont have those "toys parts" here in brasil, this is because there are not too many people who would buy it..so the "market" just dont do it.
so when we want to make, its really really make hehe

Yes, as far as I know pine should be safe. Just make sure there is no resin on the wood and you are good =).

Just to clarify, if you want a vibrant colour right away you need to get the GEL baking colours. Just in case you thought I meant regular food colouring, I didn't. You can also dye toys with food colouring, but the colour payoff (from what I hear) is not as vibrant and you usually have to soak the wood in the food colouring for a lot longer.

But if either is available to you, you can use either or:
- Food colouring= longer soaking time and paler colour payoff
- gel icing colours= quick with vibrant colours

Thanks guys Ill try it :) Ill make a toy using some old perches and dying them with the gel if it gets nice ill post a picture

Oh and one other thing, please wear gloves!!
Otherwise you might end up with multi-coloured fingers for a couple days, haha!
