After 2 weeks! I see him play! But still problems :/

Postby CrazzMc » Wed Dec 14, 2011 10:30 pm

Okay so I ordered a few toys from http://mysafebirdstore.com/ and today was the first day I saw Simba actually playing with them its been 2 weeks since the toys were in his cage (first outside for 3 days then inside) and he played (for 5 minutes). He does like chewing on wood and he loves making banging noises on the cage to get his attention I feel that he is bored though :( I play with him as soon as I get home from school for about an hour then 2 hours at night.

We target all around the cage 2 times outside his cage (still don't want him hurting himself after what happened before. he flew all around my room and had to towel him. He was fine being toweled just scared the crap out of me when he flew all the way up and then straight down into my closet)

He loves eating millet out of my hand and I pet him (only when hes eating millet, other times he just lunges for my finger? does he enjoy it?)

And he always sings when I play Xbox, don't know why but its so cute.

He learn't the shake trick but I'm still having trouble.

I feel that he is bored, but whenever I buy him a new toy he hates it. I tried to get him used to the Chinese FingerTraps Gone Done. He absolutely hates them. I sat with him for 3 days crumpling them up while one was next to him in the cage. And he just wouldn't go near it :(

How do I get him used to new toys? I got him a comfy perch still doesn't sit on it (2 weeks ago)

Do I need more toys? different types? right now none are really 'knotty' One of them is foraging/wood type. Another is a 3 rings of rope that he hates. Another is a foraging toy which he hates so i took that out. and The one he played with is this amazingly cool block hanging thing with plastic chains a bit of rope and a lot of wood.

Any ideas? This came out very unorganized sorry about that, very tired.

Thanks in advance!

I wrap pieces of millet and seed in thin tissue paper and tie that on the cage bars for the birds to rip through.
