Wanted to share this toy idea with everyone. I found a wicker ball, and pushed some sunflower seeds through the gaps to trap them inside. My irn has learned to roll the ball around until a seed falls through a gap.
At first he pushed the ball all along the floor. Then he learned he can just roll it once, pull the ball back to him and repeat till a seed falls out.

That's a good little foraging idea! Jut make sure not to buy he dyed ones cos they might be harmful to birds

Sometimes I do that for my birds too! I usually use Harrison's Pepper Coarse and Totally Organic Pellets with tiny bits of millet spray because they have a harder time getting those out of the wicker balls since they are wedged in tightly. I think they are fun little foraging toys.

I have tried doing this for my bird, and he seems to get mad at it. He fans his tail and grabs it with his beak then throws it dramatically as far as he can. He usually does not continue to go after it; just stares at it angrily. I wish he would realize that the could get food from it so he can entertain himself for a while. He does this with the cat toy balls with bells inside too. It's very strange.

omg! lwis, I HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM with my IRN, with the cat ball, that has a bell inside, he gets crazy!!! First I tought he was playing...but then I realise the BIG diference it has between his plays and that. He gets all fluffed with small puppils, make angry noises and grab the ball a trow away like it was a monster...
Does anyone knows how to show him that the toy isnt an enemy??
