Home made flour-based paper mache toys?

Postby lwis » Wed Feb 01, 2012 10:30 pm

I want to make some foraging toys for my bird, and I was thinking about using a flour-based paper mache made with plain paper (as opposed to newspaper) to make a form and then fill it with some toys and treats. Anyone have experience with this?

that sounds fun to make!!

I cant give any advice as to how safe it would be, but remember when you were young and you were told to not eat raw cookie dough, i think that was because you had a chance of getting worms from the uncooked flour.

so if you do find out its safe, maybe an extra precaution to take would be to microwave the dry flour before making the toys.

I hope you find the information youre looking for!

That would be great if we knew it was safe. I have been considering egg roll sheets to put goodies in for foraging. Just haven't tried yet.

Hmmm, I thought we weren't suppose to eat raw cookie dough due to the risk of salmonella, as most cookie doughs contain eggs. I have never heard of the flour = worms risk....hmmmm, perhaps I should stop eating raw cookie dough. lol.
I will try to find a more definitive answer as to this question and will definitely upload some pics if I end up making some toys.
