Got some toys today!

Postby Natacha » Mon Oct 05, 2009 8:28 pm

I had made an order online last Thursday. Received my stuff today

Here is the birdie booty!

-Nutrieberries because I was running low..

-Roudybush because it was considerably on sale and I figured now is the time to get some to try it. They all had a nibble at it, even Joey who is more particular about his pellets, so that's a good sign.

-The toys with wooden coloured stars and leather, I have one for each bird (Piper included). These will last a day or so in Joey and Zuri's cages when I put them in, slightly longer with the other birds.

-The colourful plastic nuts and bolts will amuse them for a bit.
Bought some the other day and they went crazy for them so I got more..

-The plastic tubes are foraging toys. Put stuff in by the end (take the cap off) and the birds have to get stuff out from the holes on the tube. I'm willing to bet money that Joey will go for the caps first and make a mess that way...

-There are things to chew made of natural materials. They all love those.

-Finally, a hanging gym which was on sale and which will probably be hung in my new bird room in December (there are nets on two sides, but you can't see it like this) :)

You beat me to it. I was thinking about posting a picture of the stuff I got for Kili at the bird store which I wrote that long story about (dunno if you saw it). I didn't feel like taking the pic but since you did it, I had to lay her new stuff out and get a shot too!

Most of that is for Kili except for the green bottle. Someone, I don't wanna mention any names (Kathleen) dropped the previous bottle and for some strange reason it shattered when it hit the carpet. It's a tough plastic so it was surprising to see it crack in half like it did. So I picked a new one up for Duke.

I go through a lot of perches cause Kili chews the bark off of them. What I do is buy a thicker perch and put Kili on it. She comps it down and when it's smaller, Duke gets to have it. Same thing with the toys. There's no point wasting big new toys on Duke. He ends up better off getting Kili's chewed up toys because the wood is looser and he actually stands a chance at chewing something out of it. When the edges are straight and new, he can't get his beak in too good.

Piper often goes for wood toys the other have started chewing at. I guess she finds it easier that way too. When the edges are all smooth she definitively has a harder time, unless it's really soft wood.

Must have been the day for toys yeterday, I just got my shipment in from Birdtricks.com yesterday :)

Natacha, I noticed you're in Canada, where do you order your toys from? A lot of good websites for bird toys and supplies I have found don't ship to Canada.

I order from a couple of sites in Canada, although most are based in Quebec.

Here are some links:

Based in Quebec, can have the page in English though (this is where i ordered the toys and food above):
http://www.oisellerielavoliere.com/perroquet/boutique/index.php?=&=&language=En

Based in Quebec, think the website is only available in French:
http://lesjouetsbobec.com/

Based in Quebec, again I think only available in French:
http://www.perroquet-engage.com/

I have also ordered from Healthy Bird. Located in New Brunswick (I think) and the website is in English:
