Regulare duct tape gets warm and lets go in hot weather. I use all weather duct tape outside.

Staples on wood is the least invasive on a home and secures the mesh.

Indeed it does, but it also makes removing the mesh impossible, and I dont think I am allowed to put a mesh over our window "permanently", due to rules that things should look coherently. I will ask our building manager when I see him though ^^.

first off sorry for not being on the forum for a while but thought I'd reply to this since I actually have 2 different solutions here to control temp etc. as for the birdroom im in right now I have 2 windows on opposite side, 1 window on each side is permanently shut as they then can land to watch out.

on one side of the room I have a box mounted inside the window with a smaller plexi that im able to open and reach out to open/close the window. to this wooden box I lso have the outpipes from dustcleaners and for the too hot days I got n AC hooked as well but then i always have to run the air steamer thingie to bring up the humidity again. but sometims it gets so hot in here it is unbarale. this wooden box itself isnt sealed with rubberfittings or anything so it has a lot less insolation that a reglar window and allow some of the coolness from outside to get in.

on the other side of the room I have a screen that is securely fitted where the window would normally be when closed. this although means i have to hang outside the window removing the screen if it gets chilly and i need to close the window. this screen is basically just a wooden frame with insect mesh first then birdmesh and then just to not create any temptations at all to chew on the mesh or the frame it is covered with thick linen (also to reduce draft). part from the really hot days having this screen up (plus the non airtight wooden box) is sufficient to keep the temp inside properly and having enough airflow to be able to live in here (birdroom doubles as bedroom and office so I spend most of the 24 hours in here).

Might also add that the wooden box type that is about 20cm or 8inches further in (featuring a plexi glass) isn't visible from outside unless your really looking for it. the screen is more visible but having woodencolored trims around the window the linen doesnt stand out too bad. plus the window is partialy shut so doubt anyone around is noticing them. its just different shaes of bron looking at the windows and one of the windows you see me (currently chewed up) wooden roof the other a screen...

But definitly worth getting/building something to allow some fresh air to get in while birds are out. and unless you need the wind to be able to blow right through I would recomend using a fabric to not create too much draft inside.

Polarn, that sounds really good. Is there any chance of a picture so I can see if it is how I imagine it to be?
