How spoiled are your birds?

Postby AlbertaAviary » Thu Aug 23, 2012 6:02 pm

Give me some reasons as to why you think your birds are spoiled. Do they have a large cage? Do you take them places with you? How do you spoil them?

My two budgies have countless foot toys. They have balls, sticks, lids, stuffed mice, bells, a spring, and more!

I also take them on lots of walks with me. Lately, I've been taking them to a playground with me. They love to perch on the toddler swing while I rock them a bit.

I also take them for car rides. My dad and I go to pick my brother up from work everyday and my budgies always come along!

If my drinks aren't sugary, I let them have a few sips out of my glass.

So, why are your birds so spoiled? Tell me!

Some would say mine are spoiled. They have over 80 toys and big cages.
They have lots of out time and attention. They get little bits of healthy human food and I spend alot more on better quality food for them than I have to.They eat better than I do lol.

I don't see them as being spoiled though, they dont get away with bad behaviours like a spoiled child, they just get what they need to make their lives as fullfilling and enriching as possible.

I know mine are spoiled because they talk when they feel like it . Not when I want them to :D

I agree with marie83' s point of view.

although I have loads of fun with my birds, I see parrot keeping not just as a fun thing, but as a serious responsibility, in which I OWE it to my birds to give them the best that I can, to make up for the fact that they are deprived of their wild natural habitats. most of my non-birdpeople friends think I totally spoil my birds, and say, oh come on, "they're just birds! do they really need all this?" but like marie83, all I try to do is give them as big a cage as I can, let them fly around the house (flight is their natural birth-right, and we as humans would be cruel to take that away), and try to offer them a good diet and toys, playtime, etc. this is all stuff they need, and I often find myself struggling to meet their needs, believe it or not!!

I know my tone kind of sounds serious, and I think the question of the post was meant lightheartedly -- don't worry, I know what you mean! :D

I would say Tiki is pretty spoiled. She gets plenty of treats and LOTS of love and attention. She is adored.
